sleep problem

#1 Post by joe19812 » Sat May 31, 2008 5:21 pm

my t61 seems to go in & out of sleep mode when the lid is closed and a/c power connected. The sleep icon on the outside will be lit up but after a few minutes the icon goes out and there's a small beep. A few minutes later the sleep icon comes on again with another small beep. This sequence just keeps repeating over & over.
I'm not sure how long this has been happening. I've only just noticed it because it's in my hotel room so I can hear this beeping at night unless I just shut it down completely. Any ideas how to correct this?

I don't experience the same problems as you do. However, things get real funky with my computer when I close the lid before the moon lights up. If I keep the lid open until the moon lights up then close the lid, I have no problem. Try giving that a try.

tried putting the system to sleep with Fn-F4 but it still goes in & out of sleep intermittantly with the lid closed. It's as if the lid closed switch might be going on & off.
Today when I had the lid closed and thought it was in sleep mode my skype alert was going off with someone trying to call me.
I never had this problem with my previous T42's. Is this a s/w or h/w issue?

My guess would be a software issue, though I don't know what the source of the problem would be.

This is often because one of the external devices, the keyboard or the mouse, or both, and the network card, too, is set to awaken the system. Check the settings in device manager and make the appropriate modifications.
