Upgrade CPU for X61t tablet
Hi all,
Just out of curiosity, is it possible to upgrade the CPU in X61t laptop?
I'm eyeing this CPU: wolfdale duo core 2.53ghz
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6819115052
Cheap upgrade if it's possible. I know the cpu in X61t is Low voltage and all, but is it possible? Correct socket?

That is not true for Thinkpads. Most have socketed CPU's and non-removeable video chipsets. The X series do not have socketed CPU's.sliverstorm wrote:Also generally speaking the only laptops with *socketed* CPU's are the sort that also sometimes have removable video cards- i.e. the high end performance gaming laptops (a.k.a. portable desktop)

So, its not possible at all? Not user replaceable for sure. What about IBM Lenovo Certified Technician / Service Center? Could they do that?

This does not apply to any of the X series machines, though, old or new. If you want a faster CPU on any of those, you must swap the motherboard. Period. So yes many Thinkpads allow it.
