2668-72U and 43R8152

#1 Post by DAH » Tue Jun 03, 2008 11:57 am

Would a Thinkpad T43 2668-72U and 43R8152 ThinkPad 250GB 5400 rpm Serial ATA Hard Drive be a good replacement for the Thinkpads C: hard drive? Or would it be blocked by the BIOS?

Thanks

I thought the T43 had a serial ATA drive, but this page says it has an enhanced ATA drive?

Your T43 has PATA/IDE drive, not SATA. Where people get confused is the fact that T43 has a SATA bridge, but that's a whole another matter...

BIOS will not block the drive, it will just give you a very tiring warning on every boot. This has been discussed in details in the sticky at the top of this thread.

You can downgrade the BIOS to the oldest one, and the warning will disappear. However, some protection functions may not function properly or at all.

Hope this helps.
