Drive Lettering Problem
Drive Lettering Problem
So I only have one CD-RW/DVD drive on my T61. But for some reason when i click on my computer it displays another device with removable storage. How do I get rid of it? It happens to be taking up the letter (Drive E) that my external hard drive usually takes up... and thats messing with my computer because I have a lot of things dependent on Drive E. What can I do? Thanks in advance!

On the Desktop, rightclick My Computer, select Manage/Storage/Disk Management
Rightclick on the drive whose Letter you want to change and do it in there.

If Kyocera's fix doesn't work then you can probably just delete the entry for the drive in HKEY_Local_Machine\System\MountedDevices. Look near the bottom of the list for \DosDevices\X:, where X: is the offending drive letter. Just delete that key and the drive letter should then be available for reassignment by Disk Management.

Fixed it
Sorry everyone it's been a while since I could get to my T61. I was about to follow Kyocera's advice and was in the process of rebooting my computer when I saw something that stood out. As it turns out... I'm just an idiot. I recently installed Power ISO and it was mounting an image to an imaginary hard drive (E:) and made it a CD Drive as well....I don't know...the point is I disabled it and everything's fine!
