new CD-ROM for loading OS
Will be buying a used 24X Thinkpad CD-ROM for $10 at lunch time today. Hopefully I can load a bulk OEM version of Windows XP on the Thinkpad R31 tonight to get this puppy to bark & play.

Update
Product Key for R31laptop and on the CD for OEM version of Windows XP didn't want to work. I then tried to load Windows 2000 and it would stop intermittently. After running Memtest86 I found one bank of 256 MB Ram was giving errors so I removed it. After thinking about it for awhile I decided to download the latest ISO of Ubuntu linux OS. Loaded up great and was able to recognize my Belkin wireless card. I'm writing my update from the R31 right now. Success!!!
