RecordNow

#1 Post by Geri » Tue Jun 01, 2004 10:32 pm

Hi, all. My T23 came with the Teac 224 CD-ROM, but I bought an UltraBay CD-RW unit for it. Is the factory-install version of RecordNow available as a download? It works just fine for me on another brand of machine (that machine isn't so hot, though) and the usual Roxio/Nero/what-have-you programs are waaay more bells and whistles than I care to have.

Thanx, Geri O

No. The recordnow available on IBM's site is an upgrade only and it checks for a version of recordnow before it will allow itself to be installed. In fact, you don't even have to have an old version of recordnow installed, just unpacked somewhere on your laptop for the upgrade installer to find..

Personally I like Roxio Basic (OEM Version) Easy CD version 5. I don't care for version 6. Version 5 seems to be the most compatible version (I always install the latest patch from Roxio). It installs only 2 programs DirectCD for drag and drop to the CDRW drive and EasyCD. And you can pick it up really cheap... around $5 plus I think $3 shippping:

Hi, Teresa. Are you using the Roxio program with Windows XP?

Yes, I am using DirectCD/EasyCD (mostly just DirectCD) version 5 (with latest patch from Roxio) with Windows XP without any problems.

The freeware program CDBurner Pro is easy to use and suffices for my needs. You can download it here:

NOTE: ONLY FOR WINXP or WIN 2000.
