and of course, nice x40 too!

go berk. sort of. i grew up in berkeley and worked on campus as an instructor for the last few years before finally moving to southern california permanently. i do miss the excitement a bit, but my younger brother (1st year EECS student) tells me all about it so that'll do!

Trust me when I tell you most sound guys cannot afford such things! A good pair of gloves and shoes goes a lot further. Lately I've been taking an office chair with me too (beats sitting on a cable trunk)! Although I did buy a lot more toys before the wife and kids. It's a worthwhile trade off.

This guy is a straight up audiophile.

Sony 7506s are the standard for sound professionals. I have a couple pairs of AKGs as well but they don't see much use in the field.

IEM molds are in my future, but they are hard to justify since I'm normally FOH.

Mine is a 1989. I also have a 1993 RS/6000 model with the internal speaker but it has a small problem with mainboard that makes it so my computer won't always boot first time around with it. Both of my keyboards have white labels and have both had hours put into them of me working to make them work and look like new.

I also have sitting on my desk complimenting my 1989 Model M a circa 1987 IBM Proprinter X24 dot matrix printer. Nothing beats tractor feed! Maybe one of these days I'll have a picture of my current desk setup which also includes a VCR, a JVC 9" studio broadcast monitor and an NES system along with my Samsung 19" minitor and my computer.

EDIT: Since this post, I've also acquired a circa 1984 IBM Wheelwriter 3 and a circal 1987 Model M Spacesaver keyboard, both of which are currently in mint condition after I put hours of work into restoring both.

if i were to take a video or a few pictures on this office, here, all would break all records removing the offending photo from their computers..

Maybe we should have a messy desk contest. I'll post mine when I get home and let everyone see how a 600E's port replicator doubles as a cat bed (not that I ever had that intention for the device).

I'd have to give the prize to Bill without even seeing your's!

I thought I was messy, but I've got photos of Bill's space and they're truly scary.

T60 with Advanced Mini-Dock, External Monitor

#285 Post by serpico » Sun Apr 02, 2006 12:57 pm

T60 in dock, external monitor, USB drive, cable modem, wireless router. The monitor is connected via DVI-D. I am running extended desktop with 1400x1050 on the laptop screen and 1280x1024 on the monitor.

Using laptop speakers, and for when sound matters, dock is connected to my receiver.

Any ideas on cable management on the desk? Below the desk, I'm using the Cable Organizer, which is useful for organizing the vipers nest of cables and getting it off the ground. For above the desk, thinking of using some PET wrap.

Just asking! A friend has a similar yagi setup, the reason he has it on his desk is for "research" purposes (aka..free high-speed from the neighbors)!

Is yours a similar setup.... (nice looking yagi too!)

I think that's a cantenna.

I think it's either a helical or just a waveguide, not a Yagi. ;)
Seems silly to spend $50 on one when you can build it for a few dollars.

A couple of views of my T40 alongside my old warhorse of a Dell. I wish I had a larger desk so I could spread stuff around and not have to have my stereo on it, but my room's a sardine can as it is. Hence why I'm perfectly satisfied in having the T40 as my main computing machine!

Did a bit of tidying up of my workspace and this is the final result - not too different from what it was, but I got that stereo speaker off the desk and looks much neater on that side. :)

The first thing I'd do is set up Synergy on all those things. My ability to be productive would triple, not that I'd ever want to be productive :P
