I moved into a new place with a new desk!

In case people are wondering, it's a Dell 2405FPW and those headphones are Sennheiser HD650 and Grado HF-1, and the little box is a Benchmark DAC1. The case is a Lian Li V1000B. Oh, and you can see my Thinkpad X40 hiding up there in the upper left hand corner!

Clean and efficient setup I must say; nice that you mange to use space efficiently from the get go instead of having to cram in a bunch of stuff then adapt slowly as you go along.

Nice setup , I used too have an desktop computer and it was encased in an beautiful silver Lian-Li case, these cases totally rule. They are like the Thinkpads of cases hehe....

One Q, dont you use your TP that much. No apps or upgrades around it?
I am just wondering about it.......

And thats an funky desk, has industrial look about it.

I really dont have an setup as such, I am an student with an family living in an VERY SMALL apartment so I either use my TPs on that table or in the sofa, yes and offcourse in school.
If anyone is wondering the laptop sleeves are TomBihn Braincells they are simply the best. http://www.tombihn.com go check them out.

I do use my X40 a lot, Gustavo, just not at home. I have a 8-cell attached to it as well as two sleeves for it: a BooqBags Vyper XS and a Waterfield. Both of them arent shown.

How long use time do get on the 8 cell ? with Wifi on and brightness set to low.
I get 7.50 hours on my X31 with the extended life battery.
I am curious to know real life battery life of the X40

When I first had it about the same time as yours. Now I always have my laptop at about 1/2 LCD brightness and I get ~5 hours. The battery is a bit old now.

hey daba, thats a real nice desk. do you mind telling me where you bought it, for how much, and what the dimensions of the table top are? how's the craftsmanship, are the shelves on top studry enough to support a medium sized printer?

It's an older style IKEA Jerker desk. The newer ones are a bit longer I believe, but they don't have these sliding side panels. I think they cost anywhere from $100 to $175 depending on what options you want; but it's a very sturdy desk and can hold, in my opinion, anything you put on it. Someone I had spoke with earlier even had his computer bolted on the side of it!

Is that a small tube amp circuit? I can't see all the numbers on the tubes but they remind me of the tubes in my old (vintage) ampeg and carvin guitar amps.

It is. It's called an Earmax Pro. Two RCA's and one Telefunken ECC81.

TI calculators! TIs here, TIs there! Although, I have a small collection that I somehow, managed to buildup over the years starting from the TI-82 all the way to the TI-89 and I use them near constantly. I still have my HP48G, HP11C, HP12, and HP29.

It used to be that you would see calculators like the HP48G, HP11C, HP12, HP29C, HP28, etc....Not too many more any more, I am afraid.

And before that? Slide rules! I have a good collection of those too; foot longs, expensive ones (not like some of the ones they make today), circular ones, etc. Some of which I still use on tests.

....Hmmm, I didn't post pictures of my desk setup now did I? I should do that when I get home and after I figure out how to get my camera working again or get a new one.

Glad to hear you mention the HP48 because that lets me know I'm not the only one to ever use one. I used to have an HP 48SX I used all the time in high school but once I no longer needed it I sold it on eBay for $100. Best part is that I originally bought the thing from a lady at a garage sale who had no clue what it was for only $5.

What a profit you made on that, not only did you get to use it for school and the like, but then you sold it for a cash gain of ~$95.

Ya, some one else has a Jornada too. Mine is a 720. Load up the right software and you can watch movies on them plus I get 8 hrs battery time on them. 22.5 if I use the extended life battery. My Thinkpad is still better but the Jornada though.

picking up the jornada 680e was a quick decision- i regret not waiting longer before purchasing a more recent version. it'll take 20 seconds sometimes to load a long thread- it is however very convenient when im outside, or just dont feel like using the laptop.
