600x ServicePack3 issures

#1 Post by u.mac » Sun Jun 08, 2008 7:10 am

there are some issures with SP3...

600x 850mhz non-speedstep-board:
after reboot system hangs while win-xp logo displayed... looks like a freezer
after Fn+F2 system works 1-2sec and freeze.
after very, very much Fn+F2 i've changed the processor-driver in system setup... there are 3 drivers, normally xp use the first one 'Intel Pentium (III)Processor' - i took the secound one 'Intel Processor' manually
after reboot speedstep works like speedstep-board...
700mhz on battery
850mhz on power line with battery installed
700mhz on power line without any battery

600x 650mhz with speedstep-board:
SP3 runs without issures (power line + battery installed)

600x 650mhz with speedstep-board:
new install. xp + sp3 without battery... like above... a lot Fn+F2, Fn+F2... + other processordriver

SP3... [censored by author]

So are you getting better performance out of your SP3 600X than you were on SP2... speedstep wise?

I've got a non-speedstep 750Mhz 600X that I'd like to improve the performance of. I only get a full 750 performance when booting with the battery installed, AND on AC power. If I remove the battery I only get 600 and same for when running on battery.

Were you running the Intel driver before hand? I couldn't get away from the Fn-F2 when loading XP until I changed to this driver.

Thanks for sharing.

performance seems to be equal sp2<->sp3

this is called "speedstep"

if you want to have 750mhz ever, take a look here

my 600x are without this fsb/ss-mod - speedstep works for me as designed... full speed with selectadock iii, long life on battery.

Thanks for the report on SP3 for us 600X users. I haven't thought of moving to it yet from SP2, but I'm sure others have.
