X61s HDD upgrade fm 160GB to 320GB NEED HELP

Hi All !

When successfully make the clone HDD from 160GB to 320GB
with Acronis True Image v11
and install new clone HDD320GB to PC can't start the Win XP Pro.
Think problem with clone preinstalled partition.
Pls kindly adv how to correct the boot records on new HDD :roll: !!!!

Did you prepare the clone from the rescue media CD or from Windows? If not create the bootable CD from Acronis in Windows and then start your X from it.

Tks for yr msg!

the clone was made by Acronis clone disk.
And renew the HDD from 160GB to new cloned 320GB
After starting i can see the BIOS start picture
and black screen with blinking dash in left coner.
Can U adv the proper procedure step by step.

you just need to do a boot repair. I'm not sure if the Windows XP disc has one but the Vista does. Normally you'd boot the system from the CD drive and just choose Boot repair. There are others oout there though that can take care of it so just google a few different utilities to get the job done.

just boot from the xp cd, do repair console and run fixmbr on your C: partition. Should be good from then.

If none of the above methods work I suggest cloning again. This time switching the hard drives around. In other words if your target was outside in a USB enclosure try it with the target in your X61 and your source drive in the USB enclosure or visa versa.

You did start from the Acronis rescue media boot CD correct?
