Dock + T61 + external monitor + shutting lid = safe?

Can I shut the lid of my T61 while its in the dock and I'm using it with my external monitor and keyboard? It doesnt seem like the keyboard area gets hot at all so I'm assuming heat won't adversely affect the screen, but any other reasons why I should or should not do this? (have a dock on the way for my new T61 )

A thinkpad get rid of it's heat by transfering it to the left side and the back.

It's not like an Apple were the keyboard is one big heatsink.

I've run my laptop four whole nights downloading, unzipping and repairing movies. (That's legal here.)
