R51 does not show anything on TFT panel after recovery

#1 Post by Matteo » Tue Jun 10, 2008 12:31 am

IBM 1829-9MG - burned out. It has FlexView panel 1400x1050. I have found a new motherboard from IBM T40-T41-T42, which has exactly the same config (with ATI 9000 32M on board: IBM FRU: 39T5433). The only difference is that this board has no plug for FireWire cable.
After installation the notebook works (that means - it boots from my old HDD to Win XP with no problem), but I can check it only when the notebook connected to an external monitor. Native TFT panel shows nothing. Interesting is that if I change notebook brightness - I can see that it has been successfully changed (black screen is not really black, because of a backlight, so I may change the brightness level of this black screen). So at least the inverter and the backlight lamp are working.

My question is: could it be a hardware incompatibility issue or I have just problem with my video cable and should try to replace it?

P.S. I have tried different display configs in BIOS/CMOS, but it did not help me, probably did not find the correct one.

May be you now need a T4x 15 inch SXGA+ LCD cable?

I hope not. The connector is exactly the same, part numbers for T4x SXGA and R51 SXGA are 91P6857 and 91P6827 respective. So I think they should be different only according to cover differences (T4x has thin metal cover and R5x - dick plastic cover).

Probably anyone may clear it? :)
