Access Connections utilizing 1GB
Access Connections utilizing 1GB
Hey there,
I already checked some discussions about this issue. Unfortunately I could not find a solution other then uninstalling it:
Sometimes when I open the Access Connection Application by clicking on the tray icon it gives me 100% CPU and its slowly eating all the RAM. Only a service restart solved the issue. It seems to work very unstable. The thing is that there seem to be several components and I am not sure which one is doing what. For example when I stop the service the tray icon is still there. Also the wireless indicator is still there (makes sense since this is an OS component). However I dont know whats going on with this stuff and I dont like to unistall it because I am sure that all this ThinkVantage software is one reason for making Lenovos more expensive than others so I want to use what I paid for. Any idea?

I personally liked the IBM Thinkpads for their build quality over the competition - especially with an IPS screen. IMO though, only SOME of their software was worthwhile to use - the other half either wasn't getting used by me or it just plain didn't work. Access Connections was one of the things that didn't work for me. It caused more problems than necessary, so I disabled/uninstalled it off my old T42.
With my new T60, I opted for a clean install of Windows and reinstalled only the few IBM apps that I used often. I'm sure Access Connections has its uses, but I'm doing fine with the standard Windows wireless stuff.
If you really want to keep it though, I would run through its settings to see if anything is causing it to do that. You could also uninstall/reinstall it to see if that helps at all.

Try to upgrade both the driver of wireless card and Access Connections to their latest version from Lenovo. It could be, though I am not 100% sure, that non-lenovo driver may not work properly with Access Connections.ldr wrote:Well thats exactly why I am asking: I would like to convert this crap into something useful to be better using it!
BTW, I have never experienced any problem with Access Connections since R40. IMO, it is handy and easy to use, especially when switching between different network environments.
