Ubuntu + Firefox 3

#1 Post by cpascu01 » Thu Jun 12, 2008 10:13 am

Has anyone updated their Ubuntu Hardy recently? I just update my system and Firefox 3 came up as a choice. Did the final release come out early?

It's not the final release, Firefox 3 is only up Release Candidate 3 (so close, but not technically a final release). I thought that only the beta release was in the official Ubuntu repositories, though there are other repositories you can add to get RC1.

The latest word I got which is quite unofficial, is that the date was pushed back to the 25th of this month. However this has not been posted as it's the result of a meeting discussing this very subject this morning. I have a friend on the development team and unlike Microsoft, or Apple, he will not be burned at the stake for sharing with me...... :D

The most recent version in the official hardy repositories is rc1. Runs quite well :)

I was under the impression that the Hardy repositories were NOT going to be updated with release candidates and that any Firefox updates would be the final release. I guess I was wrong. :?

You can roll back to 2.0.0.14:

& you have to delete a hidden file in ur home directory, it's either .firefox or .mozilla, so that extensions will work
