I ordered my T61 with no installed OS (I don't trust SuSE/Novell's relationship with a certain company), just a PC-DOS Right To Use. I like knowing about every aspect of my computers, and the manual says that I can get information by pressing the ThinkVantage button and accessing on-system help. I press the button at startup time, but all that I see for choices are BIOS Setup and Boot Order. Using Knoppix, I look at the partition table and some of the early disk blocks. I have a nice, pristine hard drive. I would think that Lenovo would put in a minimal ThinkVantage partition without any RnR facility. I'm a little annoyed that a No Preload machine also means no Lenovo features.
Other than that, it's a beautiful piece of hardware.

Even the Thinkvantage partition operates under SOME OS. So if you ordered a drive with NO OS...<G>....Yeah, I can understand that. After all, how could anyone guess what TV utilities might or might not work with a "no OS" drive that was going to have an unknown OS installed on it? Or, their license terms might be that they cna include the TV partition for so many cents with every installation of Windows that they sell. Never know.
