Recovery Disks and Microsoft Office

#1 Post by Jason404 » Fri Jun 13, 2008 9:39 pm

My X40 came with Microsoft Office 2003 on it.

If I use the Recovery Disks to restore it to factory state, I guess it would not include Office, even though mine came with it pre-installed when I bought it?

Could I use the Magic Jellybean Keyfinder to get the Office serial number before wiping the drive, then use any Office 2003 CD to reinstall it after using the Recovery Disks?

If lenovo preloaded the Office and you bought the thinkpad directly from them then it should've come with an installer disk.

Anyway, you're right in saying that the Office won't be there once you restore the thinkpad to factory state via recovery disks, but I think you would need the same OEM version and Edition (for e.g. Standard, Professional etc.) of installer disk in order to use the key from Magic Jellybean, I've never done it so I could be wrong also.

Oem version can be installed infinite number of times on the same hardware it was initially preloaded on, so this is legal as well, you may contact Microsoft if any problem arises.
