Hi,
from time to time my T40 keyboard runs very slow,
mouse pointer runs ok, programs runs ok, task manager showing 0% CPU usage, but keyboard runs like in slow motion, one char per second or less.
i've Windows XP SP2 installed.

In a particular application, or any? (E.g., run notepad, word, CMD window.) Word 2003 slows down (goes for a nap, really), then plays catch up from time to time. No idea why. Adobe Acrobat 7 and Photosnob CS2 also go deaf-dumb-blind from time to time while "updating" the license manager bot.
I also see this occur infrequently with antivirus apps running in the background, then it goes away miraculously when they're disabled (at the service level). And yes, some a/v apps seem to run below the radar of Windows' TaskMgr, so use something like Sysinternals' Process Explorer to see everything.
FYI, Thinkpads are notorious for having a plethora of little background apps running, i.e. all the Thinkvantage keyboard thingies, system tray indicators (disable them where you can to save memory), etc. Generally, I haven't seen those misbehave.
Other culprits I've seen: Norton Ghost, WUAU (Windows Update Automatic Updates), other processes hiding under svchost.exe.
I'd turn off WUAU (then remember to run it the first or second Wednesday of the month), and see if that helps. It SHOULD help with boot-time.

Yes, and after update (using http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-50273) there is do difference.
Check Control Panel --> Accessibilty Options --> FilterKeys option.
I always turn this off since I have seen a couple of people accidently turn it on by holding down the right SHIFT key for 8 seconds. When FilterKeys is activated, brief keystrokes are ignored and all keystrokes must be held down longer to be recognized.
