Thinkvantage Password Manager and Standby

#1 Post by rlchapin » Mon Jun 16, 2008 8:40 am

I am using the hardware password manager and have a question. If I place the machine in standby mode it does not ask for the password manager password. If i shutdown and boot up it asks for the password. Is there anyway to have my T61 ask for the password after I come out of standby mode (the first time I need a password)?

My thought is that I standby mode and then travel. If I lost my laptop in transit when it is in standby mode theoretically someone could log into all my password protected sites (assuming they got past the windows systems password).

I have looked at all the configuration screens but don't see anything useful.

Thanks!

Double-click on the battery icon on the task bar. The feature you want is a configuration option in Power Manager:
\Power Manager
\\Global Power Settings
\\\Events
\\\\Advanced
\\\\\ ( Place a check-mark in "Lock workstation when lid is closed" )

Sorry to hear that, but you should know that the feature does work as intended, and it works flawlessly. Look carefully at what you are doing, make sure you click "OK" and "Apply" wherever applicable, turn off the machine, restart it, and see what happens.
Good luck.

Your system and my system have something different. Because it does not work flawlessly on my machine. At first I did not have the latest version of power management or client security. I have updated and reupdated.

I have version 8.10.0006.00 of Client Security.
I have version 3.00.0006.00 of Password Manger.
I have version 1.30 of Power Manager
I have a Client Security Solution 8.1 patch for Firefox.

When I come out of standby the Windows system password is required, this has always worked for me.

But the Client Security Password Manager will only ask for a password when the system is rebooted, not coming out of standby. The password is the same as the Windows password, but I like the double layer of security.

I am sorry that I misunderstood your question. My comments were strictly with reference to Windows asking for a password when coming out of Standby.
