machine type interface 7592 and IBM 2488 tablet

#1 Post by Lino Lampers » Mon Jun 16, 2008 7:01 pm

Hello fellow Thinkpad friends

Does anybody have info on the industrial used Thinkpads, I have a 7592 with 12" screen and internal said to be 760ED.
But can't find anything but some disk images.

Also info on the Telxon rebrand IBM 2488-800 would be usefull!

Thanks Lino

Same here, If it is 760ed I would try to swap in vidcap and the mwave from a 760ed- since mine doesn't have it. Do you know for certain? The disk images I think I got too for the touchscreen driver.

I got external ibm floppy and cd for it. It has a different dock mount than any of the 700 series. You might need a ps2 keyboard/mouse splitter or a pcmcia usb card or a ps2 keyboard with mouse or usb for mouse. I think I found a sellectadock that it would match to it but only with extreme modifications and it's upside down compared to the thinkpads regular fit. No idea what the original dock would have looked like- maybe a vertical industrialized box for machine control.

Yupz
I also got the impression that there maybe the same idea involved, but I almost immediately opened the box and found out that there was not much similarity with a 760ED that I have in parts.
Its a different main board, no floppy connector, no vga outside and on the left hand side the connector for the touchscreen is directly on the main board and a power converter is on top of it on a separate board.

My first thoughts were to build in a 760 board and color screen, but due to some placing problems its not that easy and I would rather have the machine itself working and getting beyond his Error.
Screen is also only partly working.

There is a porchsale in the USA that says it has 7 of the 100MHz 7592's (aka TP755), 5 of them working and parts, but I get no answer on emails.

In Japan there is a similar version a 7344, thats one you can soup up to be more powerful and have color.
Also would like to get my hands on a 9103.

A friend of mine will check out the board itself, for I have non what so ever electronics knowledge, but am always successful in getting the job done!
So It will maybe take a while for me to get it working but I will do my utmost best to get it working.

For the 2488 I found the original manual pdf, that helped me further, so now I have a 6 gig harddrive inside with win95, only the touchscreen doesn't work yet.

But in this time I also received a TransNote and a third PS/2CL57sx, so lots to do!

I have an IBM 7592 machine interface, but am needing the TFT drivers for it. Does anyone know where I can find them. I've searched and have had no luck at all.

Thanks

I know this machine similar IBM7344.
Japan of domestic named IBM7344 except other country. As simply belows:

7344-SC0 (486DX2-50MHz, DSTN 10.4", Base 4MB, HDD 810M)
7344-TC0 (486DX2-50MHz, VGA 10.4", Base 4M, HDD 810M)
7344-TV0 (P100MHz, SVGA 12.1", Base 8M, HDD 1G/3G)
7344-TV2 (P100MHz, SVGA 12.1", Base 8M,, HDD 1G/3G, Multi madia)
7344-TV3 (P100MHz, VGA 10.4", Base 8M, HDD 1G/3G)
7344-TV5 (P100MHz, VGA 10.4", Base 8M + 8M, HDD 1G/3G)
7344-TW0 (Mobil PⅡ-233, SVGA 12.1", Base 32MB, HDD 3G, Sound Blaster, USB)

Maybe... I think your machine is same 7344-TV0 or TV2.
