I have a T42p that I am looking to use for a professional audio computer. I have a Seagate 7200RPM 100GB internal Hard Drive for my windows drive.
Some current audio software can get as large as 100GB for a full install. Most of it also requires 7200RPM Drives.
My question is can I buy this hard drive:
Seagate Momentus 7200.2 ST9200420AS 200GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive - OEM
And install it with this Ultra Slim Bay?
http://cgi.ebay.com/2nd-SATA-HDD-caddy- ... m153.l1262
Basically allowing me to use SATA Drives that are 7200RMP and higher Capacities.
T42p Hard Drive Upgrade?

First: Welcome to the forum!
Your T42p will only work with a ATA/PATA/IDE drive as the internal drive (in the harddisk caddy). However, 7200 rpm 2.5" HDD's have gone out of production, and are very hard to get - and very expensive. I sugest you review the thread Hitachi website - 7K100, 100 GB PATA HD is unavailable. The Momentus 7200.2 SATA HDD wil not work in your T42p caddy. Your choices for a new HDD (in the caddy) are limited to 5400 rpm's, where the Western Digital "Scorpios" have received good user feedback on this forum; see the links below. They are available with up to 250 GB (!!) capacity. They are available e.g. here - read the user feedback!
If however getting an UltraBay Slim Bay (a "caddy" which can hold a separate HDD and which are placed where the CD/DVD-drive normally is), then you can use a SATA-drive - see the thread T42, Ultrabay Slim and Hitachi Travelstar 7K200-200. The largest 7200 rpm 2.5" SATA HDD (that I am aware of!) is "only" 200 GB.
