I have just gotten a free 720

#1 Post by JVG » Wed Jun 18, 2008 8:49 am

Hello!

I own a recent (comparatively  ) T20 but today I have been unable to see an old Thinkpad going to the trash bin

So I have asked for it and, well, I am the proud owner of a 720. It comes with original power supply and a couple close-to-mint manuals.

I have not yet checked it but for sure CMOS battery will be dead. I will report what I find once I have some time to work on it.

I am curious about other owners of such an old unit... anyone :D ?

Best regards,

JOSE

Nice pickup. I had the 720c. It is the last of the Microchannel architecture Laptops IBM made. Just be careful and don't do what I did. I completely fried the motherboard using a PCMCIA CDROM. It appears the CDROM just drew too much power. If you you use a PCMCIA CDROM make sure the CDROM has a separate power supply.
