X61t SXGA+ display problems: cannot get 1400x1050 resolution

#1 Post by zebov » Wed Jun 18, 2008 11:03 am

I'm having a problem with my X61t w/ SXGA+ screen. After a automatic windows update (I think... you can never really be sure I s'pose with all the automation :), my display now shows a 1024x768 display in the upperleft 2/3 of the screen instead of 1400x1050 covering the entire screen. In addition the 1024x768 part is partially repeated in the other parts of the screen (see mockup here: http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/8042 ... lemiz1.jpg).

I have tried over and over to update the display driver. The display driver report is given below. In addition, I've tried updating the monitor driver, but everytime I try it says that the current one is up-to-date and when I uninstall the monitor driver, it doesn't ever really uninstall (when I restart after the uninstall, the same monitor info still shows up in device manager).

HELP!

Thanks,

Zebov

Currently running Windows Vista Business SP1

Any suggestions? I've now been able to change the driver for both the display adapter and monitor without any luck in fixing the problem? Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Go to the BIOS > Config > Display, and make sure the values there are properly set.

If no joy then I suggest you backup all your important data on an external media and restore your machine back to factory state, lets say if your display settings were manipulated by the recent BIOS update then this method will help you in spotting it or else will cure your system from any software bug for good.
