new HD without OS install for X60s

#1 Post by nbf23 » Thu Jun 19, 2008 10:25 am

anyone offer some advice on how i can install a new western digital HD without OS. i have external CD rom drive but i get a HD format issue when i start to install OS from external CD rom drive.

have used the western digital tools but get error about path/device. any advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated, in addition, is it just easier to get external case for HD and format it from there and move forward.

if so, anyone know where i can get a cheap external case for 2.5" SATA drive

thanks

Go into the BIOS and change the hard drive SATA setting to "Compatibility Mode". Then restart the Windows XP installation from the external CD-ROM drive. Good luck!
