interesting observation
well i just installed 4 gigs of RAM in my t61p, vista business 32bit, and the computer properties tells me i have 4 gigs of ram. i have read that it should only show 3 gigs that are usable, but it shows 4. i also went into the bios and it shows the 4 gigs there too. Now the interesting part is when i run the task manager i get only 3 gigs available under the memory allocation.
t61p 14.1 sxga, 4gig ram, Win7 Pro 64-bit

You've been misinformed: the chipset in your machine can address 4Gb. It's the 32-bit OS that can't make the use of it...

this comes up a few times a month at least. There were several other threads even recently as last week that discussed this. Vista SP1 just shows you what you have installed, that's a new feature. Before it would just show you what you are able to use.
