Preventing Hibernate Mode

#1 Post by CDobyns » Sat Jun 21, 2008 7:19 am

I've got a hand-me-down Thinkpad 600X running Windows XP Home that I received from my father, and as a second string laptop (nearly first string), the machine is pretty darn good - for what I ask it to do for me.

Although I've had a Thinkpad 600E also, the 600X appears to go into Hibernate mode (screen goes dark and it will only wake up when it receives a wake-up call from the "front desk" when I toggle the Power On switch). Then it comes back from Hibernate, in an already power on state.

Since the thing is running almost exclusively on A/C, what do I need to do (assuming it's on the Control Panel under Power Options) to get it to stop sleeping during the day (and at night). I've tried modifying the settings under the Power Options, but it still seems to get "sleepy".

Sometimes there's a "Thinkpads Features" program that you can use to control this behavior. If it's not loaded on there, maybe you can find it on IBM's site.

Or, is there something you can disable with msconfig?
