Ok, I was completely unaware of any problems like the power on issues with the T21 when I purchased it from ebay a couple of years ago. Even when I had troubles turning it on, I would spend hours unhooking the battery and plugging and unplugging the power, with no pattern.
There seemed to be only one reliable solutions.
I bought a new motherboard from ebay it was a T23 and included the bottom case plastic housing as well.
I was so excited I had only ever taken apart one laptop and that was to cut off the broken power plug in with my dremel tool and solder a new one in place.
This task seemed more labour intensive.
It was too easy, the only issue I had was "trimming" a small part of the plastic case from the T23 bottom so it would join together easier, I did a rough job with a pair of wire cutters, and the pictures below, show an open harddrive, but I just put a new hard drive in it and had not attached the cover for it, it does fit.
I am sure if you really wanted to you could clean it up a lot nicer, I just didn't seem to mind much.
The only problem I have noticed, is it does not auto detect the system with lenovo, I had to kind of figure out what the numbers were, but I did, AND I was able to update the bios as well.

Let me know you think.

Next time you do a job like that, don't trim the T23 bottom, but trim the T20/T21/T22 palmrest instead. Takes less time, and makes for a much better looking end result.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
