R52 power supply is not charging

#1 Post by makinjr » Sun Jun 22, 2008 1:52 am

I mean when computer is running battery won't charge. When I switch computer OFF, disconnect and reconnect power supply it will start charging.

But when I switch computer ON, it charges no more. Yet "battery" sign (under display) has yellow color while computer is running.

Faulty power supply? I suspect that my power supply can provide enough power. Am I right?? Any Ideas?

I solved this myself. Thinkpad power supply is faulty. It "drops" if I try to run my computer and load batteries. It can only load batteries. Power supply can output only just that amount of power. When more needed, it fails.

Has to buy replacement.

What is the charger FRU number?

It could be that you are using an 56 Watt adapter, which is only sufficient to charge the battery when the ThinkPad is turned off.
