X24 CompactFlash problem

#1 Post by AkiOdi » Sun Jun 22, 2008 7:27 pm

Hello, I can not see a new Seagate ST1 5GB CompactFlash drive in my x24. I can see the devices aggregates in the taskbar, but with the disk manager also nor appears the new discs. Please, can anyone help me? Thanks you.

Is there a filesystem on the disk? I think Windows ignores drives whose filesystems it cannot read (eg ext3). You may have to format the disk to a FAT filesystem in order to be able to use it.

The other thing is that you may need to assign a drive letter to the filesystem. You can do this in the Control Panel, under Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management.

Thanks j-dawg, Geoff, yes the filesystem is win FAT32 and I have some mp3 file there. I can tell you when I put the CF drive in a USB CF adapter, I can see and read the data or write data to CF without problem... any suggestions? Thanks you.

TerraHawk is IMO right, play around with drive letters. Try freeing the low letters, the drive should pop up and let you select a non-conflicting letter.
