T61 4Gb ram won't work in Advanced Dock
I have a T61 that I just upgraded to 4GB (64 bit OS). With the system on battery, it will boot as normal. However, when I attempt to boot with it in the dock, I get a long beep followed by two short beeps. This happens before BIOS.
Any ideas on the problem?
Thanks,

If I remove the ram, I'll have none left.
I'm curious as to why it would work fine when not in the dock but fine outside the dock.
Of possible note:
the memory is from crucial (never had an issue from them before) 2GB DDr2 SODIMM PC2-5300
the docking station has a two head NVida card so that I can have dual screen from the dock

Sigh..a man goes to the Doctor and says...he Doc, it hurts everytime I do this!, So the Doc says "Don't do that
. Remove the RAM you just installed and leave in the previous RAM. Computers are very simple creatures usually. If you add a problem by doing something, remove that something as a first test. If that's not it move on. We're assuming that it booted OK in the dock B4 you installed the new RAM, correct?

According to HMM:
I agree with Harryc, it's most likely the RAM that you've put in recently.Beep symptom: One long and two short beeps, and a blank or unreadable LCD.
FRU or action, in sequence:
1. System board.
2. LCD assembly.
3. DIMM.

Obviously the ram is the cause of the change in behavior. Yes the unit booted fine while attached or unattached from the dock.
I am curious as to what is different in the unit from docked vs undocked (memory wise) that lets it boot fine while not in the dock.
I can also add the unit to the dock after the POST completes and it boots correctly while docked.
Weird.
