570 pc card slots

#1 Post by ckaufman » Tue Jun 24, 2008 10:46 am

Hi
I have a 570 with win2k. It reports, over and over, that I have
removed a pc card without first stopping it. I have not in fact
so much as touched the card. The same card works perfectly
well in another, almost identical, 570. Can you advise me about
repairing this?

Not to point any fingers, but is the problem machine the one you got from me a while back? :jhem: Lol!

I've run Win98, WinME, and WinXP on the 570 machines without any problems. I have no experience with Win2k though, so I only have hardware suggestions. Have you tried different cards? Or swapping hard drives with the non-problematic 570? You might be able to figure out whether its a software or hardware issue. I can't be of much help on the software side, but I do have parts you could use for hardware repairs.

And Ive swapped card and drives and the problem remains.

Whew! Thats good to know. I know I have an extra card cage somewhere, the only issue will be finding it. I think I know where it is, and I'll give it a go this evening. PM me your address (old PMs are gone) and I'll drop it in the mail if I can find it. Andy

Edit: Found it. Waiting for your PM.

Thanks to Virge!
You found me a working card cage, sent it to me,
and my 570 no longer tells me, over and over,
or indeed at all, that I have done something
I shouldn't have.
Many thanks.
Chuck
