F1 at start?

#1 Post by lemmerdeur » Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:08 pm

I have a PC with Windows XP. For a while, it gives me a drive error when started and ask me to press F1 to continue. I checked and found out that my internal DVD drive wasn't working so I removed it and I still have the same error. The PC is working fine and I don't see any other drive not working. How could I found the problem and fix it?

What is the drive boot order in BIOS startup section? If CDROM is first in the list remove it.

Could the boot order change by itself? It had no problem for 3-4 years until 2-3 month ago. I will check anyway the boot order when I go home.

The boot order in the bios is HDD 0 then HDD 1 and then CDrom.

Are we talking about a Thinkpad here?

Harryc, this is not a Thinkpad, this is a regular PC. Sorry for the confusion.
