#1 Post by Joss » Sat Dec 18, 2004 11:25 am

I have a thinkpad 770x that I have upgrade to a Pentuim III 500. The upgrade went will excpet for on thing. The Laptop will not boot with the DVD-Rom installed in the UltraBay. I can hotload the DVD once the Laptop has boot and it works fine. Has anyone else had this and if so how do you fix it.

Have you modified the BIOS/CMOS of your 770X? Some people found that they lost the ability to boot from the CD drive (or DVD drive) after upgrading from the standard PII 300MHz up to a PIII whatever. I wonder if this might be somehow connected?

I had the problem before I modified the BIOS. What also is strange is that I can boot from the DVD, but the Windows XP install fails about half way through.
