Shortcut to IBM Wireless Connector

#1 Post by jwcane » Wed Jun 25, 2008 6:29 pm

Through an unfortunate series of errors I lost my shortcut to Access IBM | IBM Wireless Connector. Would like a pointer to instructions to restore this shortcut, or path/filename to start this utility. Trying to avoid a total rebuild of the image. Is there a restore point on my system? Have not been able to find a restore-point utility if it exists.

tks,
jwc

What starts on my T41 is a registry key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
that is:
C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities\ACTray.

So it is ACTray you are looking for, but you probably need to start it manually in the Startup folder, or attempt to restore the registry command. I DO NOT RECOMMEND REGISTRY EDITING TO ANYONE.

Thanks but I cannot find ACTray in that folder. Also the command line is not happy with the space in the Program Files folder name. I think I'll stay away from the registry on this one. A desktop shortcout will be sufficient.

The folder contains QCTray.exe not ACTray. If I try to run QCTray nothing happens.

Hoping to hear from an X31 user to confirm this, just in case there is a version difference in this functionality.

It's as JD has stated. X31 should also have ACTray in the folder specified. If you only see QCTray, it could be you're running an older version (3.xx) of Access Connections. You may need to upgrade or reinstall.
