Big THANK YOU javascript:emoticon(':D')

#1 Post by doctor bloomquist » Thu Jun 26, 2008 11:17 am

I installed wifi internally on my very recently bought second hand fleabay T23.

This is my first laptop, and I'd like to thank the users of this forum for all the good info + instructions for making the process as easy as possible! I got an Intel 2200bg after reading the long posts about what card to get, and used rkawakami's excellent photo guide for fitting the antennae in the base and ultraport.

The antenna i got from ebay (justopeshop) just fit and no more in the ultraport cavity, I had to shave the rubber blanking cap a bit thinner with a craft knife.

!So THANKS thinkpads forum!

While I had the laptop in bits I also fitted one of those flat soft trackpoints, replaced the broken lid latches & loosened the amazingly tight screen hinges - they were so tight the base plastics were shifting as the screen opened/shut javascript:emoticon('')
Shocked

If any UK newbies like me are interested, the wifi card and antennae were from ebay justopeshop, and the latches + trackpoint rubbers from a chinese ebay shop millionpart.

I was a bit put off by posts about getting wifi on/off hotkeys to work properly so after a lot of googling found a tiny, nifty piece of freeware to put a shortcut to the 2200BG properties on the start menu.
http://www.bcheck.net/apps/ its called Devmgr, near the bottom of that page.
