Connecting T61p SXGA+ to SONY KDL-40D3000 LCD TV

#1 Post by thokleiv » Thu Jun 26, 2008 11:53 am

I'm concidering a T61p with 14,1 SXGA+ screen (not widescreen).
Is it possible to connect a widescreen TV to it and get 1366x768 on the TV?

I've tried to connect my old ASUS laptop with SXGA to my SONY KDL-40D3000 LCD TV. But I'm not able to get a widescreen picture on the TV (1366x768). I've set the resolution for the external screen to 1366x768, but I only get "signal not supported" on the TV.

I've tried both "extended desktop" with the TV as primary and secondary screen and also tried to deactivate the laptop screen. But without any luck. It only works if I set the resolution for the external screen (TV) to 1024x768.

With my LG LW75 laptop with WSXGA screen everything works perfectly with 1366x768 on the TV.

Is it not possible to get a widescreen picture on an external screen when the laptop isn't widescreen?
Kind regards
