I'm going to have a go to fit a new screen myself...found the manuals but need some confirmation on the screen fru number (I get confused easily these days)
Can someone confirm that any of the three below will fit please...don't want to get the wrong one!
Two thirds down the page...thanks.

You have the incorrect LCD parts page for an R51 2887. Try
this one. On that page it lists both 92P6678 and 92P6679. Either one will work.

Thankyou!
There was someone on here selling an R51 with a good screen...couldn't have gone wrong there but don't know if he would ship to UK though!
Parts here in UK are more expensive then US and i could use other parts...Pmd and waiting for answer.
Thanks again!

Just a thought but would i be able to use a screen from any of the R series for this...or any other series for that matter! I have an R52 with a bad motherboard in the loft could i use the screen from that?
I'm buying a new IBM so will be passing this on to family so want the cheapest way of fixing.

With regard to the R52 LCD, you'd be able to use it as long as it is a 15" panel, but you need to be mindful of the inverter and LCD cable. They are different for XGA vs. SXGA+ LCD's. If you swapped the entire assembly from one machine to another (including the bezel, lid, inverter and cable) then that would not be an issue. What's the size and resolution on the R52 screen? If you have a machine type/model for it that would help determine compatibility also.

OK i have a screen it's a 92P6670...so it'll be ok.
Is there a video on fitting an R51 screen...can't quite get the hang of all those pencil pics...found links to the vids showing all the easy ones...HD/Ram etc nothing for just the screen though...my first attempt at this.
Or any links with clear pics and is there anything i should/should not do.
Thanks!

Hi thanks...yes i already have that...i've read it as having to dissemble the whole machine to replace the screen...i was hoping i could just lift out the old one and replace it without having to reroute cables etc! or have i misunderstood...unfortunately it takes a while for things to sink in with me!
Similar to this on a Dell machine

I think i may just pay the shop to do so

The easiest way to replace a laptop LCD is to replace the entire unit, but you have to remember that it does contain wireless and bluetooth antennas as part of that assembly, simply because the antennas are located in the LCD. Therefore, you have to re-route those wires in the base unit if you replace the LCD assembly. The steps to remove the entire assembly are very simple and are well laid out in the Maintenance manual.

X61 second fan FRU
I have an X61 with a second fan. The hmm lists the FRU as 42X3806 and that of a Second fan, low profile as 42X4678.
I've seen a second fan with FRU...
