T60 2nd monitor problems

So I just got an Acer 22" monitor to use as a second monitor for my Thinkpad T60 with an ATI 1400 mobility... Everything's working great until I run 3d programs on it (Warcraft III, Call of Duty 4). Neither works while I use the 22" as my only monitor, and only Warcraft III runs when I extend the 22" as my primary onto the laptop monitor. And not working means the program giving some error about textures and quiting.

Anyone heard of this before?

The problem seems to be that adding a second monitor eats up all my RAM, but why would that be...?

Maybe the problem is in the video card? Don't know the specs for either game, but T60 isn't exactly a gamer's dream...
