Transnote problem running on power adapter

#1 Post by ghsga08 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 9:48 pm

I recently have encountered a problem with my IBM transnote. On booting up after the cmos/IBM screen, the computer freezes up. This is while the power adapter is connected. If I start over, but disconnect the power adapter and run just on the battery the computer operates perfectly. If I connect the power adapter while the computer is operating on the battery I see changes in the lcd touch screen with pixels slowly corrupting the screen. At this time the computer freezes. I have replaced the main battery, I have tried another power adapter from a T22. Has anyone seen this problem on the transnote or any other IBM product? This transnote is a great computer with some unique goodies. I'd like to keep it running if possible on AC. Thanks!

I've seen this before on ThinkPads, it's always been a problem with the power management settings. Plugging the laptop in changes an IRQ, memory address or other hardware setting (a port enabling or disabling, etc) to a state that conflicts with something else and the computer locks up. Try resetting your BIOS to it's default settings and see what happens.
