the standard solution is, to remove the tp, then use a toothbrush
scrubbing good with your favorite dental product: reinstall
the way up and the way down are the same (heraclitus)

Wouldn't believed it if I had not tried! Works like a charm.

My tp gets dirty in a matter of weeks...

That's the problem "up the smoke". Everything gets dirty in no time. Mind you, I believe Soho is a lot cleaner than it used to be.

How do you remove and then re install the TrackPoint by the way?

Just use two of your grubby little fingers and lift it off.

the little red thing in the middle of the keyboard IS NOT THE TRACKPOINT. It is a removeable replaceable red cover/cushion and at least with my machine, a spare was shipped with the computer. You can order them from Lenono and from Compaq, who makes them in gray. Other colors might be available.

True enough. But it seemed obvious that is what A31 was referring to.

Goofy, did you read past that first sentence? I emphasized that the cover is not the trackpoint itself, because replacing the trackpoint is not quick and cheap, but replacing the COVER is. If you call Lenono to order a trackpoint, you may spend quite a bit more than you will ordering a COVER.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that I was actually talking about the TrackPoint cover, not the actual TrackPoint.

I take mine off and soak overnight in dishwasher detergent, scrub with an old tooth brush and let it air dry. Comes out looking new.
