Quick A21m and A22M question...

#1 Post by SaberX » Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:04 am

Just wondering if anyone knows or has done this.
I have an A22m ( 2628-stu ) P-III 900 , 15" SXGA+.
It's showing some errors on start up.
error= 0175: bad crc1, stop post task.
I'm checking it out now to see what it is and if it can be fixed.

But i have this other A21m (2628-exu ) P-III 700 , 14.1" XGA.
This system works great.

My question is Can the motherboard from the 14.1" A21m fit into the 15" A22m system?

You can fit it in but it won't do anything but XGA...

Only the 2628-Sxx and A20p MBs can drive SXGA+ LCD in the A2x series. This error can come from the E2PROM or the BIOS chip. The BIOS chip is very hard to replace since they are all different and has many pins. You may be able to replace the E2PROM from a donor board but it's a 50/50 chance.

Thanks for the info....
I should have guessed it. The A21m only has 4 megs ATI video.

That A21m is running great.Dident realy want to tear it apart to "try" and see if the board would fit in the A22m.

I guessi'll be looking for a used but good board for the A22m.

If i cant find one for a nice price i'll just have to sell this A22m for parts.
The system in in mint shape. The SXGA+ screen at first showes the Thinkpad then the error message. That showes nice and bright.
That screen got to be worth something.....

The 2628-Sxx MB FRU numbers are as following:

26p8015
26p8104
12p3982

Good luck, these are pretty rare. BTW, this MB can run 1Ghz Coppermine CPUs.
