Banias price drop reflected soon in t41 and t40 prices?

#1 Post by jsolhadden » Wed Jun 02, 2004 4:41 pm

Now with the new dothan processors out, does anyone know when Intel's price reduction in the older processors will translate into lower prices for the t41s with the older processors? I've been watching the prices on the t41s for the past month (like the DKU model) but haven't seen a drop yet.

I believe the prices are the same per processor, whether it's a Banias processor or a Dothan. They might lower due the entire line being outdated.

I think you're mistaken

According to ITP.net, prices on older centrino fell including: "Pentium M 1.7GHz processor fell from a rather hefty $423 to a more modest $294."

The article claims that notebooks prices won't drop, but that has to be a marketing statement. I bet they will soon, but just wondering if anyone has a sense as to when...

Dothan and Banias are priced exactly the same. So the 1.7 Dothan is also $294.

I doubt it, IBM still might milk them for money, that's an extra 200$ or so they get from each machine, and they probably get them even cheaper because they buy them in bulk
