WTT or WTB: T61p --> trade my SXGA 4x3 T61 w/3yr/acc

#1 Post by minc3d » Mon Jun 30, 2008 12:08 am

Hello all,

I am looking on retiring my A55 Thinkcentre as my main workstation with a T61p unit. The A55 is just loud and seeing as I got a NAS unit taking over my file serving needs with a RAID 1, no need for a tower anymore.

I guess first I should start with specs of my unit and some photos so you can have a look at what Im trading here...

Model: 8889-02U
Warranty: EZServ expires on 2011-02-21 and has ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE PROTECTION as well for the duration of the warranty.
Specs: T7500(2.2GHz), 1GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 14.1in 1400x1050 LCD SXGA+, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, DVD-+RW, Intel 802.11agn, Bluetooth, Modem, Gigabit Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 9cell Li-Ion, Windows XP Pro

The laptop has been barely used since I got it for a pretty penny and I just need the extra horsepower for the laptop which will be sitting on my desk from now on.

Here are some of the things I am looking for in a T61p if you are willing to trade...

Screen: Can be 14" or 15", flexview doesn't matter. Non wide or wide doesn't matter either. Of course, 15" with flexview is preferred but not required.
Proc: Any T61p will have more than enough juice here. No need to spat on particulars.
Memory: Not worried - I have my own stock to upgrade with.
OS: Can be XP Pro or Vista Business, XP preferred.
HDD: 7200RPM a NECESSITY but size doesnt matter much. 80GB or better suits me well.
Video: One of the main reasons I want this is for the 570m graphics, so if yours for some reason has the NVS140m or worse don't bother.
Optical: DVD-RW a must - otherwise I am keeping the optical from mine in a swap.
WIFI: Doesnt matter. I am keeping my IBM A/B/G card for wifi.
Bluetooth: Doesnt matter, dont use wifi mice anyway.
Fingerprint: Doesnt matter dont use it, but nice to have.
Battery: Doesnt matter much as the unit will be on wall power all the time.
Warranty: VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT TO ME and should be close to, match, or even beat what I have in my unit in terms of length. Doesnt need to have accidental coverage. But coverage until 2011 is almost a must. I am not willing to deal with post-sale warranty upgrades at all.
Media Reader: If yours has this SWEET could use it, but not necessary.

Please note the pics above show IBM Thinkpad badge stickers but I will be removing and keeping these for myself to put on the T61p. You will be getting the newer Thinkpad logo badge on the laptop when I send it out.

I hope someone on the forums has something they want to trade. If you have a T60p with the FireGL V5250 card I will consider you for a trade if you can match/exceed my warranty needs.

Why would you want to trade for my unit, some may ask? Well my unit will get better battery life if you travel/need mobility, is lighter overall in comparison to its battery size, and has the 4x3 aspect ratio you cannot find any longer on new thinkpads. Some people find these aspects worthy enough to merit a trade; hopefully it's you :)

Please EMAIL me all good offers (dwtrash [@] gmail.com), don't post on this thread your offers. When emailing, please include your warranty end date and any warranty details, as well as model number of the thinkpad like I listed, with a quick rundown of specs for me. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I have 100% feedback on ebay under this same name and also have 100% heatware for this same name. I have many pos feedbacks in the thread on the Marketplace for buyer/seller comments and have established a fairly good rep here as a fair person.

Thanks again and I look forward to seeing some offers :)

I am now willing to also BUY a T61p if no one wants to trade.

Leave the IBM stickers in yours and buy a few replacements on eBay, such as:

They are the same size all over.

That's where I got mine, but don't want to hassle with it again. If someone requests they stay, I will include them i guess :)

I'm sorry to say that there is no such thing as T61p (or for that fact any T61) with FlexView, apart from several units that people have customized themselves...
