Stuck on POST

#1 Post by mrpugster » Tue Jul 01, 2008 8:16 am

Hi there. I've had my X20 for a few years now but the other day I booted it up and it just sits on the POST screen (the IBM Thinkpad logo screen) then gives off one long beep followed by two short beeps. In the manual those beeps seem to point towards a system board error,

I've tried removing the battery, the hard-drive, the ram, the CMOS battery. Sometimes I can press F1 and get into the BIOS after a long wait and then once it did try to boot from the HD but then said the clock was not set!!

I'm thinking it's the system board, any ideas???

Much appreciated..

Sounds like the system board is dying or already has.

You may think about selling the machine for parts or buying a replacement motherboard from ebay.

A member in the marketplace of this forum is planning to sell two x2x machines, you should check them out too: WIW: X20 and X24's (What's It Worth?).
