x23 Recovery Never Asks for CD Disc 2

#1 Post by mrbrodes » Thu Jul 03, 2008 11:49 am

Using the media slice DVD drive I can restore XP no problems with CD1 of the recovery CD set.

But it never asks for CD 2 and no Thinkpad specific drivers/apps/utilities are installed.

Thoughts?

TIA

Completely scan and erase the drive before doing any new restore from CD’s.

First CD should then ask if you want to restore recovery partition click yes.

If it does not ask, I have found that it will only load generic XP.

A good free scan and erase program.

Wish I had more.

Good luck.

Yep, make sure your drive is reformatted without any partitions. Use ultimatebootcd.com to get a bootable .iso image.

enter BIOS setup and set the first boot device to CD-ROM. this is important, otherwise it will boot off the half-finished XP install, with the problems as you've described.
