Cleaning your Thinkpad:
Cleaning the "pleather" top and the screen
------------

Hey guys, this question applies to any Thinkpad Series but wasnt sure where to post it. I wanted to know how you clean your Thinkpad? Whats the best way to get fingerprints/oils off the cover? I try glass cleaner but it doesnt really work...

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I use denatured alcohol on the case. I have some commercial screen cleaner, but I have been told Radio Shack carries a good screen cleaner. For the screen, use a soft, cotton cloth and don't press too hard.

For the rubberized lid, I've found that Simple Green works wonders. I picked up that tip from this board. Its leaps and bounds better than anything else I've tried.

For the LCD itself, I use eyeglasses solution (ammonia free) and cloth. Its cheap and has worked very well for me. No ammonia in it. I've been told to avoid ammonia based cleaners because it can discolor the screen over time.
