I have an Adaptec USB2Connect model AUA-1420 for sale. It provides 2 x USB 2.0 ports. NEC Chipset.

This particular card is not surface mount, so it does stick out an inch or so from the PCMCIA slot. But if you want USB 2.0 on your laptop inexpensively and reliably, this may be the option for you.
