My 1802 adventure

#1 Post by chili555 » Sat Jul 05, 2008 7:14 pm

I recently bought a T40 from Ebay. I wanted to upgrade the Cisco Aironet wireless card to an Intel 2915ABG because I wanted WAP capability and 54G speeds. I probably erred buying an Intel piece, not an IBM piece. Although I read suggestions that with a BIOS later than 2.00b, the card would work. However, it threw an 1802 error:

Code: Select all

1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card.
I removed the card, but not the tricky-to-securely-install leads and ran the no-1802 bootable CD that I downloaded and burned from here: http://www.command-tab.com/2006/02/26/t ... error-fix/

The CD booted and I was given a prompt to type no-1802. I powered down the machine, put the card back in the slot and started up again. It booted to the operating system and configured and connected in just a few minutes.
