...I am not sure, but there is this eBay seller advertising with MANY CCFL's (also for T42's), but whether a CCFL is e.g. "XGA-only" or "SXGA+ only" or "UXGA-only", that I simply don't know? Ask the seller? Note that you will need a 15" (long) CCFL.

PS: I suggest you review the How to replace laptop backlight lamp (CCFL) guide or TX41D56VC1CAA, backlight, ccfl, bulb, tube, fitting, guide, instructions or Replacing the CCFL of an IBM A31 notebook - quite an operation! As evident from the thread LCD CCFL Backlight Repair/GPU Rework - I'll fix it for you! many very experienced ThinkPad users are unwilling to undertake another CCFL replacement after having first tried it one time!

I believe the XGA and UXGA backlights are the same. You need a 15" bulb. As stated above, It is a difficult job the first time you try it. I have done quite a few; it is still difficult, and I still wreck them from time-to-time. I just replaced a bulb on a T42p IDTech UXGA screen last weekend and it was not as difficult as some. I removed the screws from the sides and the 4 on the lower back. I cut the tape with a razor knife at the bottom rear to loosen the frame and tipped the frame to open it up, being careful with the ribbon cables. The bulb is in the lower channel which is now free, except for some adhesive on the rear clear layer.
