max hdd capacity on x20

#1 Post by gwachtel » Tue Jul 08, 2008 9:03 am

I bought a x20, but after using it for almost a year, I decided its too noisy for me, and in addition I would like a larger hdd. So I called some local vendors to see what they have to offer. One of them told me that my laptop cannot hold any more than 60GB. However, I couldn't find any confirmation of this fact on the internet. Is this limit really true?

P.S.: asside from this fact, I'm *extremely* satisfied with my x20. I run
Ubuntu 7.04 but also have WinXP. Installed are 320 MB of RAM and
a WLAN pcmcia card.

youe X20 should be able to take any PATA HDD..
up to 180gig or larger..
the litation on HDD size is only found in much older thinkpad models like the 760 series and the 701 series..
starting with the 770 and 600 the chipset sees much larger HDD's..

also, for the required hardware for a second HDD the advertiser in the banner, "newmodeUS" has what you will need and i'm sure they can mail to israel..

welcome to the planetwide thinkpad community.. :)
