SD Reader Question

#1 Post by kunfuchopsticks » Tue Jul 08, 2008 8:46 pm

Before I wiped my HDD on my X41, the SD reader was always there in My Computers no matter if I had a SD card in or not. Not it only shows when I have a card in.

Can I get it as before,- always show a SD drive under My Computers.

Thanks

You may require the IBM/Lenovo recovery set to get the SD driver - it is listed in SW downloads but flagged as not provided separately.

If we knew who made the reader, perhaps they could provide a driver?

Check eBay for a CD that has drivers and such but not Windows, IIRC about $10, look for names like “IBM Thinkpad X41 Tablet Laptop Drivers Restore CD” or "laptop drivers recover pack", different CD for basic x41 vs Tablet.

The driver has not been a problem for me using either the one-time routine to make a Recovery CD set or the pre-made set from IBM.

Look in System Info or Device Manager for make and model of SD card hardware?

Are you still in Windows XP or Windows 7? Windows 7 hides it automatically, but you can turn that off in folder options.
